At one point, the company said it had no choice but to allow officers to board a bus when they ask permission. Greyhound later said offi- cers ask permission to board.

During that time, Grey- hound contacted the agency, saying it was committed to supporting the inspections but felt it had been by the agency and needed help dealing with the ACLU, the lawsuit con- tends. Before December 2018, the bus line did not fully in- form potential customers they could be subjected to the sweeps, which could re- sult in delays or seizures by agents it was allowing to conduct sweeps, or did not fully warn them that sweeps could be conducted at the center, the lawsuit contends. After that date, the bus line added a page to its web- site about and rules on that ad- dress the subject of immi- gration enforcement sweeps, but accessing that information required navi- gating through two pages and clicking on the ninth en- try on the second page. The rights and rules page misrepresents the role Grey- hound played in allowing the sweeps to occur, the law- suit contends. The bus line still warn customers that sweeps may occur on its buses.

Other times all passengers were questioned, but white passengers were treated much differently than mi- norities. The lawsuit mentions the case of Mohanad Elshieky, who was taken off a bus in Spokane in January 2019 and accused of being in the coun- try illegally, even though he had been granted asylum. Elshieky has filed a separate suit against Customs and Border Protection.

The attorney of- fice sent Greyhound a letter in February 2019 asking the company to change its prac- tices but it has not, the law- suit says. This February, after the Associated Press reported on an agency memo that said its officers can only conduct warrantless sweeps on buses with the consent, Greyhound said it would change its practices. But the website still says it has no choice but to allow immigration officials on its buses and provide adequate warnings when a customer buys a ticket, the lawsuit says. The lawsuit alleges five counts of violating the Consumer Protection Act and one count of violat- ing the state Law Against Discrimination. It asks for a court order to make Greyhound stop those practices and penalties of as much as $2,000 for each count involving consumer protection.

CONTACT THE WRITER: (360) 664-2598 Continued from 1 GREYHOUND BOISE The Idaho at- torney general has agreed to investigate the mother of two missing children and her new husband in connection with the death of his first wife. The mystery of the chil- disappearance and the deaths of three people close to the couple, including their spouses, has sparked investi- gations in several states and worldwide headlines. Tammy death on Oct. 19, 2019, was described in her obituary as being from natural causes, and her hus- band Chad Daybell reported- ly told authorities that she died in her sleep. But law en- forcement became sus- picious when he married Lo- ri Vallow about two weeks la- ter, and in December author- ities had body exhumed.

Autopsy and toxi- cology tests have not been re- leased. Lori Vallow came under police scrutiny in November after authorities learned that her two children, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua Vallow, had not been seen since September. Authorities have also in- dicated that they will search the remote wilderness in and around Yellowstone once weather conditions allow. Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden agreed last week to take over the in- vestigation of Tammy Day- death after a request from a local prosecutor, ac- cording to documents The Associated Press obtained through a public record re- quest. Fremont County pros- ecutor Marcia Murdoch asked office this month to consider the possi- bility of filing conspiracy, at- tempted murder and murder charges against Lori and Chad Daybell in Tammy death.

The at- torney general had initially turned down the request, cit- ing a lack of resources, ac- cording to Murdoch. Scott Graf, the attorney spokesman, said that when Murdoch first made the request it clear if the state office would have the capacity to take over the case, based on current and anticipated caseloads. The attorney office asked Murdoch to see if oth- er county-level prosecutors were available to take over the case first. None of the other county prosecutors she approached was able to take the case, Murdoch told the state office when she made the request again on April 7. am again requesting that the office take over this case because my office does not have the resources or the experience to handle the Murdoch wrote in the letter obtained by the Associ- ated Press.
